SIMULIA Multiphysics Extended Pack

ExSight Multiphysics Extended Pack provides advanced meshing, modelling and simulation capabilities for simulation specialists on the V6 platform. ExSight Multiphysics Extended Pack is part of SIMULIA’s ExSight product family, which together with the DesignSight and Simulation Lifecycle Management product families constitutes a comprehensive product portfolio for realistic simulation built on the V6 platform. ExSight is intended for simulation specialists and provides extensive capabilities for setting up and running Abaqus and other multiphysics simulations. 


  • Provides advanced meshing tools in a single integrated environment with full associativity to geometry

  • Enables nonlinear dynamics simulations to be defined and executed


  • Rule Based Meshing: Enables fully automatic meshing of complex surface geometry with quality meshes containing fewer elements. Common geometric entities are recognised and meshed based on user-defined rules creating meshes that automatically meet mesh-quality targets. Provides consistent meshing results and offers meshing rules appropriate to the target industry and discipline.

  • Batch Meshing: A convenient tool is provided to quickly mesh a single shell part or large assemblies of shell parts from a Navigation window using defined rules. Batch meshing can be used to mesh multiple products without the need to load all the geometry and finite element model representations into memory.

  • Mesh Editing: Enables users to leverage mesh and geometry editing tools for manual meshing and editing operations. The user has access to a variety of tools such as local mesh specifications and mesh quality based editing.

  • Composite Material and Section: Allows the definition of lamina elastic material properties for composites modelling. It supports the direct import of composite layup information from CATIA Composites Part Design for composite shell section property definition. The analyst can thus quickly setup the composites model and run simulations. The direct link with the composites design allows for composites layups to be updated seamlessly based on the results of simulations.

  • Contact: Provides a convenient contact detection tool for rapid setup of contact interactions in a model. In addition, the user has the option to define surface based contact pairs based on user specified master and slave surfaces. Contact property definitions for friction properties can be created by the user and associated with contact pairs. Visualisation tools enable the quick review of created contact pairs.

  • Explicit Dynamics simulation: Multi-step, nonlinear, explicit dynamic simulation can be defined with models consisting of solid or shell elements. For each simulation step, attributes can be defined and user controls can be set to customising the analysis time incrementation. A mass scaling option is available to reduce solution times.

  • Implicit Dynamics simulation: Multi-step, nonlinear Implicit dynamic simulation can be defined with models consisting of solid or shell elements. implicit time integration is used to calculate the transient dynamic or quasi-static response of a system. The user has the choice of specifying application types including transient fidelity, moderate dissipation and quasi-static simulations.

  • Model Building and geometry import: Provides a wide range of tools for feature-based part modelling and assembly creation. Geometry imported from 3rd party CAD systems can be imported using STEP and IGES formats and modified for simulation.
