CATIA V6 R2013 Interoperability

July 30, 2012

Interoperability between V6 and other systems is one of the major focus points for Dassault Systèmes V6R2013 platform, which includes CATIA (design), SIMULIA (simulation), DELMIA (production), ENOVIA (collaboration) and 3DVIA (communication).

Pro/Engineer users will benefit from a new ENOVIA capability to perform “where used” scenarios from within their CAD interface, says Dassault systèmes. xCAD users will have access to new file converters (Pro/Engineer, Inventor, ACIS) to V6 to help with optimised design and reuse. The V6R2013 platform also features new APIs for robotics, ergonomics and machining.

CATIA Live Weight is a new tool to help managers and non-specialist engineers understand weight, centre of gravity and related tolerances of any assembly – even complex ones and without opening parts.

For industrial design, a new character line command in Imagine and Shape, CATIA’s virtual clay modeller, is designed to give the automotive designer more flexibility in determining and controlling the way sharp edges becomes smooth.

CATIA also has improvements to its sheet metal, fastener and Printed Circuit Board (PCB) design tools. Meanwhile, for simulation, SIMULIA DesignSight provides enhancements for visualising results, usability, and report creation; SIMULIA ExSight adds several new modelling capabilities and SIMULIA Simulation Lifecycle Management (SLM) offers enhancements for data retention and collaborative working environments.
