SIMULIA Multiphysics Pack

ExSight Multiphysics Pack delivers realistic simulation on the V6 platform. ExSight Multiphysics Pack is part of SIMULIA’s ExSight product family, which together with the DesignSight and Simulation Lifecycle Management families constitutes a comprehensive product portfolio for realistic simulation built on the V6 platform. ExSight is intended for simulation specialists and provides extensive capabilities for setting up and running simulations.

Features:

  • Implemented on the V6 platform: Simulation models, scenarios and results can be shared and accessed across the enterprise. All lifecycle operations are supported, such as versioning, transferring ownership, locking, and changing maturity. Simulation lifecycle management is integrated in the V6 compass as an advanced search (east quadrant), allowing easy identification of all of the simulations that have been performed on a given product.

  • Simulate realistic multiphysics behaviour: Provides capabilities for setting up and running nonlinear solutions using high-performance computing within an easy-to-use interface. ExSight uses Abaqus Multiphysics technology to provide solutions that analysts can trust.

  • Meshing: High quality solid and shell meshes can be created using the meshing tools. Multiple mesh representations can be generated and used for various types of simulations. The mesh is strongly associated with the geometry and can be easily updated following geometric modifications without the need for recreation of simulation attributes. ExSight includes automatic mesh generation with tet elements and allows users to specify the element type to be used for simulation. Several mesh visualisation and quality check tools are available and mesh groups can be defined. The generated mesh can be exported in Abaqus (.inp) or Nastran (.bdf) formats.

  • Materials and Sections: Allows for materials to be defined for simulations and stored for future use. Convenient search and management tools make it easy to find the correct material and assign it to the model. Material definitions can be exported or imported from external files such as 3DXML, FBDI and the Abaqus input (*.inp) file. Material models for elastic, plastic, hyperelastic and viscoelastic behaviour are supported. Additionally, solid, shell and pre-tension sections can be defined.

  • Contact: Provides a convenient general contact option that can be enabled for automatic modelling of contact during simulation based on surface proximity and interaction between parts.

  • Stress and natural frequency simulation: Multi-step nonlinear and static perturbation simulations can be setup. In addition, frequency simulations can be defined to calculate the natural frequencies of the model. For each simulation step, attributes can be defined and user controls are available for customising the analysis time incrementation. A stabilisation option is available to improve convergence and reduce solution times.

  • Loads, Restraints and Initial Conditions: ExSight provides an extensive library of loads and restraints for creating realistic simulation scenarios. Available structural loads include pressure, force, torque, and bolt force. Additionally, forces and torques can be offset from the surface and rotated to the desired orientation. Bolt and displacement restraints can be defined in addition to clamp restraints and grounded ball joints that enable a surface to rotate freely without translations. Loads and restraints can be created and modified in different steps of the simulation using convenient review panels. Initial temperatures can be specified on a part at the start of the simulation. Time varying, tabular amplitudes including a smooth step option can be used to scale applied loads.

  • Output Request and Analysis execution: Field output request can be included for regions of the model based on user requirements and used for results post-processing. Easy to use diagnostic information is included that enables analysts to debug and resolve problems with simulations that do not run or have convergence difficulties.

  • Results Visualisation: Provides a wide range of tools for visualisation of simulation results for models with solid, shells and continuum shell elements. Capabilities include undeformed and deformed model display, contouring, symbol plot and probes. Rendering options can be used to customise the display and minimum and maximum values can be highlighted. Display groups enable results display to be limited to a subset of the model for closer inspection of the results. View cuts can be used to cut away a part of the model for display of results on the interior. Several options are available for customising the display of view cut and for translating the cut. Job diagnostics tools can be used to investigate and resolve convergence and modelling problems. A convenient option for generating simulation reports is also included.
