Intrinsys are delighted to announce that the Gold Partner who will speak at the UKIEF this year is Renishaw.
Overwhelmed with a variety of high quality proposals to fill the Gold presentation slot at the 2017 Forum, Renishaw have been selected to present.
All the Gold partner presentations will be made available to delegates through the networking group so look out for details of the presentations or webinars. We trust that you will enjoy them and find them as informative and useful as we have.
Renishaw’s presentation title: Will maintaining data integrity within Additive Manufacturing accelerate its use? Presented by Mathew Favell, Renishaw Customer Solutions Manager, and joined by customer HiETA.
The design rule book for manufacturers is in the process of being re-written, as the advantages of additive manufacturing are understood. However, for many, the data integrity for the production of series components, has, perhaps kept this exciting technology to the confines of the prototype room only.
Today the .STL file format is almost exclusively used by additive manufacturing & 3D printing software tools. A 30-year old format that was never designed, or subsequently modified, to incorporate the demand of today’s precision engineering practices. Many operators within safety critical industries demand that a specific CAD format is used throughout the manufacturing & inspection processes. You might therefore be surprised to learn that even these industries have to date abandoned those principles, in the pursuit of advantages that additive manufacturing might bring!
Will recent enhancements in how traditional design packages maintain the design intent throughout the additive manufacturing process have any impact? How might the design aids be further enhanced by using the data available? Additive manufacturing of metal parts is not only here to stay but its use is growing at a significant rate. If you’re involved with product design but not fully aware of the possibilities offered by additive manufacturing, perhaps the recent advancements could significantly impact your business?
Renishaw will be joined by HiETA, a company that is already taking advantage of the opportunities offered by additive manufacturing. Their experiences will help delegates assess their potential use of AM within their own business. More details to follow.
About HiETA technologies
HiETA Technologies Ltd specialize in thermal management and light-weighting, exploiting additive manufacturing (AM) as a production and customization process.
The very high levels of 3D design freedom offered by Additive Manufacturing offers real benefits to their clients and partners including reduced lead-time and increased performance. It allows HiETA to develop more compact and efficient product solutions than conventional manufacturing techniques.
HiETA focus on industrialisation, working on automotive, aerospace, consumer and defence projects and are viewed by many to be experts on Additive Manufacturing.
The images below is a selection of some of HIETA’s work.
Mathew Joined Renishaw in 1987 as a Craft Apprentice and studied Mechanical Engineering.
He’s held a wide range of technical, customer-facing and management positions within the company, including overseas projects. He spent 10 years supporting specialist manufacturing applications at customer sites across the world, and in 2002 left his position as Senior Applications Engineer to become Area Sales Manager for the South West of England, where he worked alongside Renishaw’s commercial partners and market leaders within the aerospace sector.
In 2011 Mathew became the National Sales Manager, 2014 National Business Development Manager & 2016 Customer Solutions Manager. The current role is highly focused towards implementing complete manufacturing solutions, based around additive manufacturing (Metal 3D Printing). Actively involved with obtaining full process validation for the manufacture of aircraft components in the UK and overseas. Engaging with manufacturers and designers to help meet modern manufacturing challenges is a passion.
