Collaborative Working with the 3DLive Bridge

With Dassault Systemes’ new release, V6, being based on a database system CATIA, ENOVIA, DELMIA etc. all use the same data set. This benefits users allowing for collaborative working, the removal of errors during the development stages due to better file management and in general, a quicker system.

With this step, 3DVIA can now connect to this same database using the 3DLive Bridge, here’s how…..

1) “Explore” the model to be used in the 3DLive software, selecting what parts/assemblies are required to be brought through to 3DVIA Composer.

2) Within 3DVIA, go to File, 3DLive and Import.

3) The data will be brought through in 3DVIA ready for editing.

4) And……. Voilà!

Hint: The same procedure can be followed to update a finished 3DVIA document, but with an out of date model; i.e. the model has been changed in Catia. This will bring through the updates, leaving the parts which haven’t been modified intact, all whilst maintaining any collaborative actors, views, animations etc. which have already been created in 3DVIA.
